Overlook Golf Course — Collective Review

Summary

Overlook Golf Course, located along State Route 9 near Big Lake in Mount Vernon, Washington, is a casual 9-hole public facility (par 34) that garners a generally positive and welcoming reputation among local golfers. While the total volume of online reviews across platforms like GolfPass, Yelp, Facebook, and TripAdvisor is relatively small, the consensus paints it as a community-oriented, unpretentious track offering solid value. Reviewers consistently praise the course for its friendly, welcoming staff and low-pressure atmosphere, noting that players rarely feel rushed during their rounds. The layout is particularly appreciated by casual players and beginners due to its shorter length (around 2,260 yards) and several drivable, fun par-4 holes, balanced by a challenging lone par 5 and beautiful scenic highlights such as the elevated tee box on hole 3. In terms of conditions and amenities, golfers set realistic expectations for a budget-friendly local municipal-style venue; greens and fairways are typically described as acceptable to well-groomed for the price point, though not of championship-resort caliber, and clubhouse amenities are fairly basic. Overall, players value Overlook Golf Course as an enjoyable, affordable place for a quick 9-hole fix or an introductory round in Skagit County.
