Summary

While total online review volume is modest, golfers frequently describe this 9-hole layout as a hidden gem on the Long Beach Peninsula, particularly appreciating its sand-based turf that drains efficiently and allows for reliable year-round play even during coastal rains. Reviewers consistently praise the course's casual, unpretentious character and strong affordability, noting fair green fees and affordable range buckets. The scenery and atmosphere are highlights; surrounded by coastal pine woodlands, players routinely spot deer grazing on the fairways. Golfers characterize the layout as straightforward and flat yet engaging, offering a mix of narrow and wide corridors shaped by coastal breezes. On-site amenities such as the driving range, rental carts, and the clubhouse Great Day Cafe contribute positively to the visit. Critiques are relatively minor but recurrent. Some reviewers point out variable course conditioning, including dry patches, dirt lies during drier spells, and visibly worn tee boxes. Others noted a desire for on-course facilities such as a portable restroom near the middle holes or improved practice green proximity. A few isolated reviews criticized management policies or staff interactions. Overall, Surfside Golf Course is seen as a welcoming, low-pressure coastal destination ideal for recreational golfers and vacationers looking for a quick and budget-friendly round.
