Veterans Memorial Golf Course — Collective Review

Summary

Veterans Memorial Golf Course in Walla Walla, Washington, is generally viewed as an enjoyable, budget-friendly municipal layout that serves the local community and traveling golfers looking for an affordable round. While aggregate review counts across platforms like TripAdvisor and Yelp are modest compared to destination tracks in the region, the general consensus is positive. Golfers frequently praise the course for its exceptional value, noting low walk-on and twilight rates that make it one of the most cost-effective courses in the area, along with popular Monday discount specials for military veterans. The layout features wide, forgiving fairways lined with mature, established trees that offer classic parkland aesthetics. Because of its open design, players note it is difficult to lose balls, making it accessible and enjoyable for beginner and intermediate players, though low handicappers may find the design straightforward and slightly easy. The flat terrain makes it a comfortable, walkable track. Course conditions receive generally favorable marks for fairways and layout maintenance, though golfer feedback regarding the greens is mixed; several players note that green speeds can lean on the slower side or experience rough patches depending on the season. Service from the pro shop and café staff is consistently described as friendly and welcoming. The primary criticism reported by reviewers relates to pace of play, with some players experiencing long rounds nearing five hours on crowded days due to the absence of course marshals to manage the flow of groups.
